Context
A logistics site handled significant merchandise volumes during handling, transit and loading operations. Teams worked under time pressure, with complex physical flows across multiple checkpoints.
When an incident occurred (missing parcel, misdirected pallet, carrier dispute, customer claim), teams had no objective support to reconstruct what had happened. Operator recollections and paper documents were the only available evidence.
The Problem
Logistics dispute management faces a structural problem when evidence relies solely on human elements:
High processing time. Identifying the sequence of events in an incident required cross-referencing operator statements, delivery notes and system logs, with no guarantee of consistency.
Absence of objective evidence. In disputes with carriers or customers, the lack of precise timestamps on physical movements weakened the position of the operations team.
Insufficient flow visibility. Without traceability of passages through transit zones, it was difficult to identify loss points, bottlenecks or recurring misdirection errors.
What Was Put in Place
1. Critical Zone Mapping
Before any deployment, high-stakes zones were identified: receiving and dispatch docks, transfer areas, mandatory passages, sorting zones. Mapping defined optimal camera positioning to cover relevant events without blind spots on the main flows.
2. Video System Deployment
Industrial cameras adapted to site constraints (dust, variable lighting, temperature) were installed at strategic points. Continuous recording is coupled with precise timestamping of each frame.
3. Event-Video Association
The system associates detected operational events (zone passage, label reading, alert trigger) with the corresponding video sequence. This link allows teams to retrieve the relevant video directly from a known event, without reviewing hours of footage.
4. Consultation Interface
An interface enables operations teams to search for sequences by period, zone, event type or document reference. Retrieval is fast and requires no technical expertise.
